Vikki Karan is the founder and CEO of Vikki Ventures LLC, which launched in 2022. Vikki was born and raised in Westchester County, New York. Prior to her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, she spent six years working at her local video store and several years in the music industry which included managing a band, booking shows and tours, overseeing publicity, and securing and negotiating record label and distribution deals for artists both in the US and UK.
Vikki moved to New York City in 1995 and graduated cum laude from New York University with degrees in the Liberal Arts (A.A.) and the Social Sciences (B.A.). In 2001, Vikki headed west to earn her Juris Doctor at Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. The following year, as part of a Summer Internship in London, England, she was on the UK team creating Sasha Baron Cohen’s The Ali G Show for HBO.
In 2003, Vikki began an internship in the mailroom at the Endeavor Agency in Beverly Hills which evolved into a 14-year career in the talent agency business, 10 of those years were spent running the Client Services Department through the merger with William Morris in 2009, resulting in WME, and the acquisition of IMG in 2014.
In 2016, Vikki joined the team at Omaze, which tapped into the power of celebrity to increase donations to nonprofits. As the Director of Business Affairs, she had the opportunity to create and build out the Business Affairs Department. As Omaze grew, she shifted her focus to Philanthropic Relations. Vikki became well-versed in the world of community giving, and its power.
Vikki has taken her learnings from working with talent and in the giving space to create Vikki Ventures. Vikki is dedicated to expanding the giving space and making it more inclusive through the practice of creating everyday philanthropists. Through her work with Vikki Ventures, she guides people and organizations in creating and building out their philanthropic brand which includes establishing and managing their charitable operations. She inspires and educates others on how to give intentionally and strategically, locally and globally.
As part of her commitment to furthering the work of nonprofits, Vikki currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Social Impact Fund, is a Girl Scout Troop Leader, and is a volunteer librarian at her daughter’s school. Vikki remains a proud New Yorker who resides in Los Angeles with her husband, daughter, dog, and cat.
